Importance of JEE Main Exam in India
The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the Joint Entrance exam or the JEE main for the students who seek to get admissions into the various engineering colleges, IIT’s, NIIT’s, along with some of the technical institutions which are centrally funded. The examination is regulated in both online and offline mode. The JEE Main exam is one of the eligibility tests also for the JEE Advanced.
Every year, Lakhs number of aspirants appear for the JEE Main examination with an aim to get admissions into the educational institutions of national importance. About 20 % of the students crack the exam from the total number of students appearing for the exam, whereas the rest candidates fail to qualify it. A number of reasons trigger for this failure, of which one of them would be the non-systematic plan of study.
For the JEE 2017, the students should first qualify in the JEE Main exam. Also, the union ministry of the human resources has stated that the CBSE class 12 marks will not be determining the ranking of the JEE exam for procuring admission into the engineering courses, instead it will be one of the parameters that would help in deciding the eligibility criteria of the student for the examination.
JEE Main Exam Pattern- 2017
The JEE Main exam 2017 consists of two papers- paper 1 and paper 2, of which one conducted in online mode and the other in offline mode.
The paper 1 is an online computer based examination which consists of objective type questions or MCQ (Multiple choice questions) that carry 4 marks each, and there is a negative marked assigned for each of the wrong attempts. This paper mainly consists of questions related to physics, mathematics, Chemistry. An equal form of weightage is given to all the three subjects and the duration of the examination is about 3 hours.
The paper 2 is usually regulated for the students who wish to seek admissions into the fields such as architecture, planning courses. The paper 2 consists of three parts mathematics, drawing test and aptitude test. Each of the topics from these papers has subject wise questions.

Know the Exam syllabus and Prepare a Subject-wise Chart

This will give you an idea on how and from where to start your preparation for the examination along with format of examination, type of questions, the level of difficulty, eligibility, marking schemes or patterns, syllabus. The JEE main syllabus consists of syllabus related to the subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry. Most of the questions, about 85% of the questions are asked from the CBSE class 11 and CBSE class 12 Syllabus.
Make short notes on the topics and subjects
